The importance of a thing can easily be measured by its relevance to many people. 39% of the world's population remains without access to a bank account. Cryptocurrencies are changing this at a fast pace in places where fiat currencies are deflating and people cannot do even basic trade to survive. However many places people have access to a phone. Bitcoin has already had a big impact in Eastern European countries, South America, Africa, Russia etc. The potential of blockchain technology to lift people out of poverty is immense.
